Adds a Gigabit Ethernet port via USB 3.0 with 10/100/1000 Mbps speeds, backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1
The LUOM CR111 adds a Gigabit RJ45 port to laptops, tablets or desktops that lack a built-in Ethernet socket. It connects through a USB 3.0 Type-A plug and is backward-compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 hosts. The 5 in cable keeps the dongle close to the device while still reaching a router or switch.
Windows 8.1 through XP, Mac OS X 10.6 through 10.12, Linux kernels 2.6 and 3.x, and Chrome OS recognise the adapter without extra software. Link and activity LEDs show connection status at a glance. The adapter draws power from the USB bus, so no external supply is needed. Windows RT and Android are not supported.
The adapter negotiates 10, 100 or 1000 Mbps Ethernet speeds and uses the USB 3.0 5 Gbps bus for full Gigabit performance. It complies with IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab and 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet. Buyers who need multi-gigabit or fibre connectivity should choose a different class of adapter.

Both connectors are rated for standard insertion cycles; the 5 in cable reduces strain on the USB-A plug, so neither should need replacement under normal use.
The USB 3.0 bus limits the adapter to 5 Gbps, so the 1000 Mbps Ethernet link will saturate before the host interface becomes a bottleneck.
It is USB powered with no external supply, supports IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet, and has no fan, so heat and power draw stay low during continuous operation.
