HDMI to DVI with audio extraction
This adapter converts an HDMI source into a DVI-D video signal while splitting off optical Toslink and 3.5 mm analogue audio. It suits setups where a display only accepts DVI but the source also needs multi-channel or stereo sound. No drivers are required for operation.
Build integration and cabling
The unit needs a 5 V 1 A power supply, which is included, and provides one HDMI input plus DVI, optical and 3.5 mm outputs. It frees the user from separate audio de-embedders and lets a single HDMI feed serve both a DVI monitor and an external DAC or speaker system.
Resolution and audio headroom
Video supports 1080p at 60 Hz and lower timings such as 720p, 576p and 480p. Optical output handles 5.1-channel DTS or AC3 and 2.0-channel LPCM, while the 3.5 mm jack is limited to 2.0-channel PCM. It does not pass 4K, HDR or higher refresh rates.

Questions about this item
What is the highest resolution and refresh rate this converter can pass through to a DVI display?
It supports up to 1080p at 60 Hz input and output, plus 1080i at 50/60 Hz, 720p at 50/60 Hz, 576p/i at 50 Hz and 480p/i at 60 Hz over HDMI 1.3.
How much heat or fan noise does the box produce during continuous all-day operation?
The unit is passively cooled with no fan; its aluminium casing stays warm but not hot while drawing power from the included 5 V 1 A adapter.
Which cables and power source must I already have to connect a source and a DVI monitor?
You need an HDMI cable from the source, a DVI-D cable to the display, and a wall socket for the supplied 5 V 1 A power adapter; optical or 3.5 mm audio cables are optional.
