Who It Suits

Installers who need to extend existing Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat7 cables without re-terminating ends will find these couplers convenient. Buyers who require shielded couplers, keystone mounting or a single-gang wall plate should look at other products.

Deciding Specification

The couplers are verified to the TIA/EIA 568-C.2 Category 6 standard and support data rates up to 10 Gbps, so the key check is whether your cabling and equipment are rated for that performance level.

Questions about this item

What category rating does the TIA/EIA 568-C.2 standard give this coupler?

The coupler meets Category 6 performance, supporting up to 10 Gbps with Cat6 or Cat7 cables.

What physical clearance is needed for the inline coupler body?

The coupler adds about 5 in. of length between two RJ45 plugs, so allow that extra space in tight cable runs.

How do you install the coupler, and which step is often missed?

Push each RJ45 plug in until the retaining clip clicks; the step people miss is not seating both clips fully, leaving a loose connection.
