What the LUOM OZQ8AB3 does

This LUOM OZQ8AB3 is a bi-directional HDMI 2.1 switch that lets you connect two sources to one display or one source to two displays, switching between them with a button press or the supplied remote. It supports resolutions up to 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz or 120 Hz and 1080P at 240 Hz, making it suitable for gaming consoles, PCs and media players that need high refresh rates.

Check your cables and devices first

Ensure both your source devices and the display have HDMI 2.1 ports if you want 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 144 Hz; the switch is backward compatible with earlier HDMI versions for lower resolutions. Use cables no longer than 1.5 meters for 8K, 3 meters for 4K and 8 meters for 1080P to stay within the rated maximum cable lengths. No external power supply is required, but the remote needs two AAA batteries which are not included.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The unit draws power from the HDMI connections themselves, so there is no fan and no audible noise during operation. Its compact enclosure measuring 5.91 by 2.36 by 0.79 inches and weighing 11.9 ounces stays cool to the touch under typical switching loads. Because it requires no separate power adapter, it adds no extra heat or cable clutter to an entertainment centre or desk setup.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box and what must I supply myself?

The package includes the bi-directional HDMI 2.1 switch, an IR remote control and a USB-C cable. HDMI cables and two AAA batteries for the remote are not included.

How do I decide between using this as a 2-in-1-out switch or a 1-in-2-out splitter?

Use it as a switch when you have two source devices such as a console and a Blu-ray player feeding one display. Use it as a splitter when one source needs to alternate between two displays; only one screen is active at a time.

What does the 8K@60Hz rating mean for my actual cable runs?

At 8K resolution the switch supports cables up to 1.5 metres (4.9 ft). For 4K the limit extends to 3 metres (9.8 ft), and for 1080p it reaches 8 metres (26.2 ft).
