Compact Aluminium Volume Controller

The LUOM OZU8 is a desktop multimedia knob that gives tactile control over system volume and media playback. It connects through a removable USB-to-USB-C cable and works immediately on Windows 7, 8, 10, 11 and Mac OS without installing drivers. The aluminium-alloy body and weighted base keep the unit stable during quick adjustments.

Build Quality and Daily Connection

A solid rotary shaft and metal-plated USB port are built into the 97 by 61 by 17 millimetre chassis, while four anti-slip mats and internal metal blocks prevent the 0.25 kilogramme device from sliding. The detachable cable means a damaged lead can be swapped without replacing the whole controller, and the compact footprint fits beside a keyboard or on a crowded streaming desk.

USB Audio Interface Limits

Because the knob communicates over a standard USB HID link, it controls the host operating system’s master volume and media keys rather than driving headphones or speakers directly. It cannot apply hardware equalisation, provide microphone gain or bypass the computer’s own audio stack, so users needing per-application mixing or external DAC functions will require additional hardware.

Questions about this item

What USB standard does the OZU8 use, and what is its practical data-rate limit?

The controller connects through a USB-C port using the USB 3.0 interface, which caps at 5 Gbps in practice.

What are the exact dimensions and weight of the aluminium knob, and what clearance does it need on a desk?

The unit measures 97 × 61 × 17 mm and weighs 0.25 kg, so it fits in a 10 cm square footprint with under 2 cm height clearance.

How is the OZU8 installed, and which step do users often miss?

Plug the supplied USB-to-USB-C cable into the knob and a free USB-A port; the driver installs automatically, but you must set the knob as the default output device in Windows or Mac sound settings.
