Questions about this item

Will the IR remote or 5V/1A power adapter need replacing after a few years of daily switching?

The IR remote uses a standard button cell that can be swapped when depleted, and the 5V/1A DC adapter is a common barrel type available from any electronics supplier.

At 18.5Gbps bandwidth, will 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 video hit a limit before the audio extractors do?

The 600MHz per-channel bandwidth and 18.5Gbps total ceiling match HDMI 2.0b spec, so 4K@60Hz 4:4:4 passes through while Toslink and coaxial carry up to 5.1-channel audio without bottleneck.

Does the aluminium enclosure stay cool and silent when the switch runs 24/7 with both inputs active?

The unit has no fan and draws only 5V/1A, so it runs silently; the metal case dissipates the few watts of heat, staying warm but not hot during continuous operation.
