What this cable does

The LUOM TJ-A091 connects a Mini DisplayPort 1.4 source to a full-size DisplayPort 1.4 display. It carries up to 32.4 Gbps bandwidth for 8K at 60 Hz, 4K at 144 Hz and lower resolutions at up to 165 Hz. The 3.3 ft male-to-male cable is bi-directional, so it also works from a standard DisplayPort output to a Mini DisplayPort monitor.

The spec that decides fit

Your source and display must both run DisplayPort 1.4 and support the target resolution and refresh rate you want. The cable is rated for 8K 7680x4320 at 60 Hz with 10-bit RGB 4:4:4 and DSC, plus 4K 3840x2160 at 144 Hz. If either device only supports DisplayPort 1.2, the maximum resolution and refresh rate will be lower.

How it fits a build

Gold-plated connectors and a braided PVC-and-cotton jacket resist corrosion and wear during repeated plugging. The 3.3 ft length suits desktop-to-monitor runs on a typical desk. No external power or adapters are required; the cable draws what it needs from the DisplayPort interface itself. Buyers who need a longer run or an angled connector for tight spaces should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What does the 32.4 Gbps bandwidth actually deliver when the cable is connected?

It carries 8K at 60 Hz with 10-bit colour, RGB 4:4:4 and HDR using DSC, or 4K at 144 Hz with the same colour depth and HDR, provided both source and display support those modes.

Which DisplayPort version does the Mini DisplayPort 1.4 connector implement, and what does that limit?

The cable is built to the DisplayPort 1.4 specification, capping total bandwidth at 32.4 Gbps and maximum video data rate at 25.92 Gbps, so resolutions above 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz are not supported.

What physical space is needed for the Mini DisplayPort and full-size DisplayPort plugs?

The cable assembly measures 8.19 x 3.7 x 0.63 inches, so allow that clearance around each port for the male-to-male connectors and the braided jacket.
