Three-pack USB 3.0 A-to-A cables

This three-pack supplies three black USB 3.0 Type-A male to Type-A male cables, each 6.6FT long, for extending the reach of USB 3.0 peripherals such as external hard drives, laptop cooling pads, monitors, cameras, set-top boxes and Blu-ray drives to a computer or hub. The cables are backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 1.1 ports.

Check your ports and device gender before ordering

Verify that both the host and the peripheral present a USB Type-A female receptacle; this cable will not fit Type-C, Micro-B or Mini-B sockets. Confirm the peripheral uses a standard Type-A plug so the male-to-male extension mates correctly. No driver installation is required for Windows PCs.

Thermals noise and power draw in normal use

Passive copper conductors with foil-and-braid shielding carry data at up to 5 Gbps without active circuitry, so the cables generate no audible noise and add negligible heat to the setup. Power delivery follows the host port specification; the 10× speed advantage over USB 2.0 is maintained without extra power draw from the cable itself.

Questions about this item

What comes in the three-pack and is anything else required to use them?

The pack contains three 6.6 ft USB 3.0 Type A male-to-male cables. No drivers or extra parts are needed; just plug each end into a USB 3.0 or 2.0 Type A port.

Which cable length should I choose for a typical desk setup?

The 6.6 ft length gives enough reach to run from a desktop tower to a monitor hub, cooling pad or external drive without excess slack.

Will the 5 Gbps rating actually be reached when I connect an external hard drive?

The cable supports up to 5 Gbps SuperSpeed transfer and is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 ports, so the drive will run at the highest speed both ends allow.
