Luxul

Luxul SW-505-16P-R 16-port PoE+ L2/L3 managed network switch

SKU CH-FCP4-5F14S MPN SW-505-16P-R

Provides 16 PoE+ ports with 185W budget, two SFP uplinks aggregable to 2Gbps, and Layer 3 management in a 1U rackmount chassis

  • 16 PoE+ ports power and connect devices over a single cable
  • 185 W total PoE budget supports multiple high-demand endpoints
  • L2/L3 management with VLAN and QoS for traffic control
  • 2 SFP slots aggregate to 2 Gbps uplink bandwidth
  • Variable-speed fans keep rack operation quiet

16-port PoE+ L2/L3 managed switch

The Luxul SW-505-16P-R provides 16 Gigabit PoE+ ports and two combo RJ45/SFP uplinks for commercial and residential networks. It delivers up to 185 W of PoE power for access points, cameras and VoIP phones. The switch supports Layer 2 and Layer 3 management features including VLAN and QoS. Up to 16 units can be managed from a single interface.

Practical limits of the Gigabit and PoE+ interface

Each of the 16 PoE+ ports supplies data and power over twisted pair up to 100 metres. The two SFP slots accept 1 Gbps fibre modules but cannot be used simultaneously with the copper uplinks. Both SFP ports can be aggregated for a 2 Gbps uplink. Total switching capacity is 36 Gbps.

185 W total PoE budget

The 185 W power budget is the single figure that determines how many powered devices the switch can support at once. Buyers who need more PoE capacity for larger camera arrays or high-power access points must select a switch with a higher budget. Variable-speed fans provide quiet operation while maintaining thermal headroom for the full load.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the model with 16 PoE+ ports or the one with 20 total ports?

The switch has 16 PoE+ ports and 2 non-PoE Ethernet ports, giving 18 usable ports at once; the 2 SFP slots share those two Ethernet ports so you cannot use both types simultaneously.

What does the 36 Gbps switching capacity deliver in daily use?

It provides non-blocking wire-speed forwarding across all 16 gigabit ports plus the two aggregated SFP links, so AV-over-IP streams and PoE devices run without congestion.

How do the combo RJ45/SFP ports limit my uplink choices?

Each of the two rear-facing combo ports can be used as either RJ45 or SFP, but not both; the two SFP ports can be aggregated for a 2 Gbps uplink.
