Twister Xd 5X Solid Carbide Drill

The M.A. Ford 2XDSR4567A is an 11.60 mm solid carbide drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It suits machinists and maintenance teams who need a rigid, wear-resistant tool for production or repair work. The 5X designation indicates an extended flute length for deeper holes in a single pass.

California Proposition 65 warnings

The product carries two Proposition 65 notices: one for a chemical known to cause cancer and one for a chemical known to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm. These warnings do not change the tool’s function but require safe handling practices such as wearing gloves and avoiding dust inhalation during use or resharpening.

Solid carbide construction and shank fit

The solid carbide body provides high stiffness and heat resistance, reducing deflection when drilling tough alloys. The cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders, allowing quick changes on milling machines, drill presses or CNC centres without special adapters.

Questions about this item

How often will the 11.60mm carbide cutting edges need resharpening or replacement?

Resharpen when cutting performance drops; solid carbide allows multiple regrinds before the drill must be replaced.

What limits continuous drilling in tough alloys with the Twister Xd 5X?

Chip evacuation in deep 5×D holes becomes the limiting factor before tool wear does.

How much heat builds up in the shank during all-day CNC cycles?

Solid carbide runs hotter than cobalt; use flood coolant or through-spindle coolant to manage shank temperature.
