9.60 mm Cyclone Xd drill

The M.A. Ford CXDSR 0960AP is a 5X solid double margin drill with a 9.60 mm cutting diameter. It targets machinists who need accurate holes in steel and cast iron on CNC or manual equipment.

5X diameter drilling depth

The 5X length-to-diameter ratio sets the practical reach at roughly five times the 9.60 mm diameter. Chip evacuation becomes the limiting factor beyond this depth, especially in ductile materials where long chips can pack the flutes.

Double margin stability

Twin margins guide the drill straight, giving good size control and finish at the 9.60 mm diameter. The design handles moderate feeds in alloy steels but runs out of coolant capacity in deep holes without through-spindle delivery.

Questions about this item

Which Cyclone Xd 5X drill diameter should I pick for a 9.60 mm hole?

Choose the 9.60 mm variant; it is ground to that exact diameter for a 5×D depth of cut.

What does the 5X designation mean when the drill is in the spindle?

It indicates a flute length suited to drilling five times the 9.60 mm diameter in a single pass.

How does the double-margin design affect hole quality in practice?

Two margins guide the drill, improving straightness and surface finish at the 9.60 mm size.
