Purpose-built drill for 19.25 mm holes

The M.A. Ford Twister Xd 3X is a solid carbide drill sized at 19.25 mm. It targets machinists and maintenance teams who need a single, rigid tool for producing accurate holes in tough materials without swapping inserts.

Replaces indexable or HSS drills in repeat jobs

The solid carbide body removes the need for separate inserts and outperforms high-speed steel when cycle time and hole quality matter. The step up is justified when volumes are high enough to offset the higher tool cost and when the machine spindle can run the speeds carbide demands.

Carbide brittleness limits interrupted cuts

Solid carbide fractures under heavy interruption, deep cross-holes or unstable fixturing. The 3× diameter flute length restricts reach to shallow depths. Proposition 65 warnings note the presence of listed chemicals, so appropriate handling controls are required.

Questions about this item

What shank size does the 19.25 mm Twister Xd drill need to fit my chuck?

The 19.25 mm diameter refers to the cutting portion; the shank is sized to match standard collets or chucks for that drill diameter.

How do I install this solid carbide drill without cracking the tip?

Clamp the workpiece rigidly, use a holder with minimal run-out, and start at low feed before ramping to full speed.

When should I replace the 2XDSS7579A drill?

Replace it when flank wear reaches the supplier’s limit, when hole size drifts out of tolerance, or if the cutting edges chip.
