This new replacement battery fits MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina models A1398 released in Late 2013, Mid 2014 and Mid 2015. It uses lithium-ion cells rated at 8700 mAh and 98 Wh with a nominal voltage of 11.26 V. The pack weighs 435 grams and includes installation tools. It is intended for owners of those specific MacBook Pro models needing a fresh power source.

Who This Suits and Who It Does Not

This battery suits users with a MacBook Pro 15-inch Retina A1398 whose original battery no longer holds charge. It does not suit owners of MacBook Pro models A1502, A1708 or A1990, nor any 13-inch Retina or non-Retina 15-inch units. Buyers who need a charger rather than an internal battery should look at an AC adapter instead.

Capacity and Voltage Confirmation

The decisive specification is the 8700 mAh capacity at 11.26 V yielding 98 Wh, which must match the original Apple part numbers A1494 or A1618. Verify the model identifier on the bottom case or in About This Mac shows MacBookPro11,2 through MacBookPro11,5 before ordering. EMC numbers 2674, 2745, 2876, 2881, 2909 and 2910 also confirm compatibility.
