Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs 18 Pair

Mack's Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs come in an 18-pair pack totalling 36 individual plugs. The moldable putty design fits the unique contours of virtually any ear to create an airtight and watertight seal. They are intended for sleeping, swimming, travel, concerts and studying. Made in the USA since 1962, they carry a Noise Reduction Rating of 22 decibels.

Noise reduction limits at 22 dB NRR and 30 dB SNR

The earplugs provide a Noise Reduction Rating of 22 decibels under US standards and a Single Number Rating of 30 decibels under EU standards. This attenuation level reduces loud environmental noise but does not eliminate all sound. Users will still hear alarms or conversations at reduced volume. The putty material blocks water entry to help prevent swimmer's ear and surfer's ear during aquatic activities.

Hand-molded installation with reusable putty

Installation requires rolling a piece of putty into a ball and pressing it over the ear opening until it seals. The material sticks to skin to hold its shape without a cord or rigid frame. Common issues include pressing the putty too deep into the canal or failing to achieve a complete seal around the outer ear. The plugs are reusable until they lose tackiness or become soiled.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 18-pair pack or the 36-count listing for my needs?

Both descriptions refer to the same Model 718 box containing 18 pairs, which equals 36 individual earplugs.

What does the 22 decibel rating mean when I am actually wearing them?

The Noise Reduction Rating of 22 dB is the US laboratory figure; in everyday use the actual reduction depends on how well the silicone putty seals your unique ear canal.

How does the moldable putty design affect the seal compared with standard flange tips?

The putty molds to the exact contours of each ear, creating an airtight and watertight seal that fixed-shape tips cannot match.
