What the Product Is

The MAD CATZ R.A.T.8 is a wired optical gaming mouse that connects through a USB 2.0 port. It offers a 12000 dpi sensor and eleven programmable buttons. The device is built around a lightweight aluminium chassis and uses OMRON switches rated for 50 million clicks. Three RGB illumination zones and onboard memory allow profile storage without software running. Windows 7, 8.1 and 10 are supported and an internet connection is needed for the configuration download.

Who This Suits

Right-handed players who want extensive button mapping and a sensor that tracks at 12000 dpi will find the hardware matches that need. The adjustable chassis lets users tune the balance for different grip styles. Buyers who want a wireless connection or a mouse shaped for left-hand use should look at something else.

The Deciding Specification

The optical sensor tops out at 12000 dpi. If your gaming requires a higher maximum sensitivity this mouse will not reach it. If 12000 dpi covers your range the R.A.T.8 meets that core requirement.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the 12000 DPI sensor is tracking correctly after plugging in the USB cable?

The optical sensor is built on a lightweight aluminium chassis that keeps its position perfectly balanced on your gaming surface; use the flux Interface software to run a surface calibration and verify the DPI stages match the 12000 dpi maximum.

What comes in the box and do I need to buy a separate USB cable or weights?

The package includes the RAT 8 mouse with its fixed USB 2.0 cable; no extra cable or weight kit is required because the aluminium chassis already provides a rigid, balanced foundation.

Which version should I choose if I want the 11 programmable buttons and onboard memory for macros?

This single RAT 8 model already includes 11 programmable buttons, onboard memory for macro storage, three RGB zones and OMRON switches rated for 50 million clicks.
