Smart Recessed Downlight

The MagicLight 5/6 inch smart recessed downlight fits a 5.9 to 6.3 inch ceiling cut-out and replaces a traditional 70 watt equivalent fixture with a 9 watt LED source. It is intended for homeowners or renovators who want colour-changing and tunable white light without running new wiring or adding a separate hub.

Bluetooth Mesh Operation

The fitting uses Bluetooth 4.2 mesh networking so each unit relays commands to its neighbours, creating a local lighting network that remains responsive even when individual nodes are far from the phone. Up to 64 lights can be grouped and controlled simultaneously with a stable connection at 20 to 30 metres range, avoiding the frequent drops and resets common with Wi-Fi based bulbs.

App And System Limits

Control is handled through the Hao Deng app, which requires Android 4.4 or iOS 9.0 and later, and the hardware runs on 120 volt 50 or 60 hertz mains supply. The interface does not support voice assistants, cloud schedules or third-party automation platforms unless the app itself adds them in a future firmware update.

Questions about this item

How much heat does the 9W LED produce when left on all day?

The 9W draw means very little waste heat; the fixture stays cool enough for standard 150-160 mm ceiling cut-outs without extra ventilation.

What phone and app are needed before the light will pair?

Install the Hao Deng app on Android 4.4 or iOS 9.0 and up; the downlight connects directly via BLUETOOTH 4.2, no hub or Wi-Fi router required.

Will the 120V E26 base work in my existing 5 or 6 inch recessed cans?

Yes — the 7.28 inch outer diameter and 5.9-6.3 inch cut-out range fit most 5/6 inch housings, and the standard E26 socket powers the 9W LED without rewiring.
