The MagTek Dynamag 21073145 reads magnetic-stripe cards on tracks 1, 2 and 3 at speeds from 4 to 60 inches per second. It connects through a single USB port using either HID or keyboard emulation, drawing up to 110 mA in normal mode and 500 µA when suspended. The black housing measures 3.94 by 1.28 by 1.23 inches and weighs 0.28 lb, making it a small-footprint choice for retail or hospitality checkouts.

Driver-free setup with a three-colour status LED

Windows plug-and-play recognises the reader immediately, so no extra software is required for basic operation. The red, green and amber LED shows power, read success and error states at a glance. Because the unit is powered entirely from the 5 V USB bus, there is no external adapter to lose or misplace. Installers should verify that the host system supplies reliable USB power; marginal ports can cause intermittent reads or unexpected suspend behaviour.

The reader is rated for continuous operation in environments from 10 to 90 percent relative humidity, non-condensing, both while operating and in storage.
