Charger and eight AA cells

The Powerex MH-C801D is an eight-slot smart charger bundled with eight AA AccuPower NiMH cells rated at 2900 mAh. It suits households, photographers and anyone who runs multiple devices on rechargeable AA or AAA batteries. The charger handles both cell sizes in any combination across its independent channels. Each cell delivers 1.2 Volt nominal voltage for standard compatibility.

Check your mains supply and cell needs

The unit accepts AC 100-240V at 50/60 Hz with a 1200 mA input draw, so it works on most household supplies worldwide. Verify that your devices require 1.2 Volt NiMH chemistry; the charger will not charge lithium, alkaline or other chemistries. Each slot operates independently, so you can charge one to eight cells at a time. No extra cables or adapters are included beyond the integrated AC plug.

Ready-to-use cells and dual-rate charging

The eight included AccuPower AA cells arrive pre-charged and can be used immediately. The charger provides a 2000 mA rapid rate for AA cells and a 100 mA trickle rate for AAA cells, selecting the appropriate current per slot. Conditioning and refresh cycles help maintain capacity over repeated use. No software or firmware updates are required or available for this hardware.

The package includes the eight-slot MH-C801D smart charger and eight AA AccuPower NiMH batteries rated at 2900 mAh. The charger accepts 100-240 V AC mains directly, so no separate power supply is required.

Should I choose the 2900 mAh AA cells or a different capacity for this charger?

What does the 2900 mAh rating mean when the batteries are used in a device?

At the nominal 1.2 V output, each 2900 mAh cell can supply 2900 mA for one hour or a proportionally lower current for a longer period before the voltage falls.
