Portable 2230 M.2 SSD Enclosure

This aluminium enclosure accepts a single M.2 2230 drive using either NVMe or SATA protocol and connects to the host via a USB-C 3.2 Gen2 port. It is aimed at creators who need compact, bus-powered storage for gimbal cameras, DSLRs or phone-mounted live-streaming rigs.

USB-C 3.2 Gen2 10Gbps interface limit

The enclosure tops out at 10Gbps, so the fastest NVMe drives will be bottlenecked by the USB link rather than by their own controller. SATA-based 2230 drives run at their native ceiling, while NVMe models cannot exceed the bus bandwidth.

Tool-free slide-in installation

The drive slides into the single bay and is secured by the enclosure shell, requiring no screws or adapters. The only common issue is inserting a 2230 module upside-down or forcing a longer M.2 size that the bay does not accept.

Questions about this item

Should I pick a 2230 NVMe or SATA drive for this enclosure?

The enclosure accepts both NVMe and SATA M.2 2230 drives; choose NVMe for faster transfer rates or SATA if you already own one.

What real-world throughput does the 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2 link give with an NVMe drive?

An NVMe drive in this enclosure can reach the full 10Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2 bandwidth, so large files move at near-interface speed.

Does the Type-C port use USB 3.2 Gen2 or an older standard?

It uses USB 3.2 Gen2, so the Type-C connection caps at 10Gbps and is backward compatible with slower USB hosts.
