Discontinued handle styles marked Disc still work with the 8 Series body. The sectional mortise design suits commercial and heavy residential doors. Vestibule Function Without Thumb Turn

The vestibule function keeps the outside lever always locked while the inside lever remains free for egress. There is no interior thumb turn, so the lock cannot be unlocked from inside by hand. This suits storerooms or corridors where key-only entry is required. It is not for rooms needing a privacy turn or passage sets that unlock from either side.

Latch-Only Body With 2-1/2 Inch Backset

The lock body contains a latch bolt only with no deadbolt or rocker mechanism. A 2-1/2 inch backset and a 1-1/16 by 7-5/8 inch face plate are the critical dimensions for mortise pocket fit. Left-hand handing is fixed and cannot be reversed in the field. Buyers who need a deadbolt or reversible handing must select a different mortise lock body.
