Multi-Channel SDI I/O Card

The Matrox X.mio3 FH is a half-length PCI Express card that delivers up to 12 reconfigurable SDI inputs and outputs from SD to 4K. It is built for OEMs developing channel-in-a-box systems, video servers, broadcast graphics, encoders, transcoders, multiviewers and switchers. Hardware-accelerated processing handles motion-adaptive de-interlacing, up/down/cross scaling and multilayer compositing across every channel. The card also provides AES/EBU, LTC, GPIO and RS422 connectivity in a single-slot design.

Build Integration Requirements

The card occupies one half-length PCI Express slot and consolidates I/O that would otherwise require multiple dedicated cards. On-board frame synchronizers, VANC and HANC support, and analog blackburst reference input (tri-level or bi-level) reduce external synchronization gear. Automatic video relay bypass maintains signal continuity through power loss or software failure. A single comprehensive SDK covers development for all supported functions, simplifying driver and application integration.

Capacity and Headroom

The 12 reconfigurable SDI ports can be assigned as any mix of inputs and outputs to match changing workflow demands. Up to 16 channels of AES/EBU audio and 8 LTC timecode connections provide ample headroom for multi-language or multi-programme delivery. Processing resources are shared across all channels, so simultaneous 4K de-interlacing, scaling and compositing on every port will saturate the hardware. Projects requiring more than 12 SDI ports or higher-density audio routing exceed the card’s fixed I/O and processing budget.

Questions about this item

How many reconfigurable SDI inputs and outputs can the X.mio3 FH handle simultaneously?

The card supports up to 12 reconfigurable SDI I/O channels, each configurable as an input or output from SD through 4K resolution.

What thermal or acoustic load should I expect when the card runs continuously in a server chassis?

The half-length PCIe card uses passive cooling with no onboard fan, so it adds no audible noise; sustained operation relies on chassis airflow across the heatsink.

Which external reference signal does the card require for frame-accurate synchronisation?

An analog blackburst reference input accepting tri-level or bi-level sync is provided on the bracket for genlocking all channels.
