Cleaning Cartridge for DDS and DAT Drives

The maxell 186990 is a 4 mm cleaning cartridge designed for all DDS and DAT tape drives. It removes debris from the read and write heads to maintain reliable backup operations. The pack contains a single cartridge rated for up to 40 cleaning cycles. It suits administrators who need routine maintenance media for existing tape libraries.

Replaces Worn or Contaminated Cleaning Media

Swap this cartridge in when the current cleaning tape reaches its cycle limit or shows signs of contamination. The jump is worth it when backup logs report media errors or when the drive requests a cleaning cycle. It restores head performance without requiring drive disassembly. Buyers who need a fresh cartridge for a different tape format cannot use this product.

Limited to DDS and DAT Compatibility

This cartridge works only with drives that accept DDS or DAT cleaning media. It does not support LTO, AIT, or other tape standards. Each cleaning cycle consumes one of the 40 available uses, after which the cartridge must be replaced. The product was first listed by the manufacturer on June 28, 2024.
