  • Single pack provides one 90-minute tape

Ideal recording media

The Maxell XL II Type II audio cassette provides 90 minutes of recording time on high-bias tape. It is suited for transferring pre-recorded cassettes, CDs and other digital sources. Home, portable and car stereo systems all benefit from its formulation.

Consistent high-bias performance

High-bias chemistry maintains stable frequency response during long recording sessions without the saturation that can affect normal-bias tape. The tape delivers reliable results across the full 90-minute length in home decks, portables and car stereos.

Simple drop-in installation

Insert the cassette into any standard Type II compatible deck and press record; no calibration or bias adjustment is required. Buyers whose equipment only supports normal-bias Type I tape will not be able to use this cassette.

Questions about this item

How much audio can the 90 minute Maxell XL II Type II cassette hold per side?

The cassette provides 90 minutes of total recording time across both sides.

What type of cassette deck bias setting is required for the Maxell XL II Type II?

This is a high-bias Type II formulation, so the deck must be set to high bias or Chrome/Type II position.

Will the Maxell XL II Type II play correctly on an older portable recorder that only supports normal bias?

It will play back, but recording on a normal-bias-only deck will produce dull treble and elevated noise because the tape requires high bias.
