Clamp Earth Resistance Tester

The Megger DET14C is a clamp-on instrument for measuring ground resistance without disconnecting the earth electrode. It suits electricians and maintenance teams who need fast, non-intrusive checks on grounding systems in industrial, commercial or utility environments.

1500 Ohm Maximum Measurement Range

The tester reads ground resistance up to 1500 ohm, which defines whether it covers the installation under test. Accuracy is +/-1.5 percent on the low range and +/-35 percent on the high range, with a test voltage selectable between 25 V and 50 V at 3 A test current.

35 A Leakage Current and 256-Record Logger

Leakage current is measured from .5 mA to 35 A, giving headroom for most load-side monitoring tasks. The onboard data logger stores 256 records, and the jaw opens to 1.5 in (39 mm) for typical conductor sizes. The unit is rated CAT IV 600 V and IP30, and runs on AA batteries.

Questions about this item

What does the 1500 ohm maximum ground resistance measurement mean when I am testing an earth electrode?

The tester can measure ground resistance up to 1500 ohm, so any electrode reading above that limit will be out of range and cannot be displayed.

How does the CAT IV 600V safety rating affect where I can use the clamp?

CAT IV 600V means the instrument is rated for measurements at the origin of low-voltage installations, such as utility entrances and outdoor service points, up to 600 volts.

Will the 1.5 inch jaw capacity fit around the earth conductor on my site?

The jaws open to 1.5 inches (39 mm), so they will clamp around any round or flat conductor that fits within that diameter.
