Mellanox Technologies CX516A 2-Port 100 Gbps QSFP28 PCIe Network Adapter

SKU CH-V6JE-X0HHF MPN CX516A

A two-port 100 Gbps QSFP28 PCIe network adapter for high-speed wired connectivity

  • Dual-port design doubles bandwidth with 100 Gbps throughput
  • PCI Express interface ensures broad server compatibility
  • QSFP28 connectors support high-density 100 GbE links
  • Wired connectivity delivers consistent low-latency performance
  • ConnectX-5 architecture enables efficient packet processing

Dual-port 100 Gbps QSFP28 network adapter

The Mellanox ConnectX-5 CX516A installs in a PCI Express slot and provides two wired QSFP28 ports, each capable of 100 Gbps Ethernet connectivity for high-throughput server and storage links.

Suited for dual-link 100 Gbps deployments

This card fits environments that need two 100 Gbps QSFP28 connections from a single PCIe slot; it does not serve builds requiring a single port, lower-speed SFP+ interfaces, fibre-channel protocols or additional ports beyond the two provided.

Maximum data rate 100 Gbps per port

The decisive specification is the 100 Gbps line rate on each QSFP28 interface; confirm that your switch, cabling and transceiver modules match this speed before purchase.

Questions about this item

Will the CX516A fit in a standard PCI Express slot?

The CX516A uses a PCI Express x16 edge connector and requires a full-height bracket; verify your chassis has an x16 mechanical slot and enough clearance for the dual QSFP28 cages.

What is the step people miss when installing the CX516A?

Insert the card fully until the retention latch clicks, then attach the QSFP28 transceivers before cabling — seating the modules after the card is screwed down avoids bent cage pins.

When will the CX516A need maintenance or replacement parts?

The adapter has no moving parts; only the QSFP28 transceivers and patch cables are field-replaceable, so plan to swap optics or cables if link errors appear.
