Toy storage chest with safety-hinged lid

The MERSCO wooden toy chest provides 2.7 cubic feet of hidden storage for toys, books and games. Made from premium MDF, it measures 13.8 inches high, 29.5 inches wide and 11.4 inches deep. The safety-hinged lid protects small fingers while opening and closing. It also serves as a sturdy stool for children.

Safety hinge and dual-use design

The safety-hinged lid prevents sudden closure, reducing the risk of pinched fingers during daily use. The flat top supports a child's weight so the chest doubles as a seat in a bedroom or playroom. Assembly is completed in around 15 minutes with included hardware. The grey finish suits a variety of interior styles.

Suited for families needing combined storage

This chest works well for parents who want a single piece that organises clutter and offers extra seating. Buyers who need modular bins, open shelving or a larger capacity unit should consider alternative storage systems. The fixed dimensions may not fit alcoves or narrow hallways.

Questions about this item

Does the safety-hinged lid mechanism need any lubrication or adjustment over time?

The safety-hinged lid is designed for maintenance-free operation and does not require lubrication or periodic adjustment.

What stops the chest from holding more than the stated 2.7 cu ft when packed tightly?

The internal volume is fixed by the 29.5" W x 11.4" D x 13.8" H cavity, so contents cannot exceed 2.7 cu ft regardless of packing method.

Will the MDF panels warp or bow if the chest sits in a sunny playroom all day?

MDF is stable under normal indoor conditions; prolonged direct sunlight and high humidity should be avoided to prevent any long-term dimensional change.
