Hughes H-4 Hercules Steel Model Kit

This Metal Earth kit reproduces the Hughes H-4 Hercules Flying Boat, known as the Spruce Goose, in a moderate-difficulty steel model. It arrives brand new in its original unopened box and contains 111 parts that assemble without glue or paint. The finished model measures approximately 12.6 inches long, 8.5 inches wide and 3.8 inches high and includes a display stand. It is an officially licensed product aimed at adult collectors and hobby enthusiasts.

Upgrade from simpler metal kits

Builders who have completed easy-level Metal Earth models and want a larger, more detailed project will find the step up worthwhile. The 111-part count and moderate rating demand more patience and finer tool work than entry-level kits. The jump makes sense when you are ready for a longer build session and a display piece with true-to-scale exterior detail.

Suits adult hobbyists wanting a historic aircraft

This kit fits collectors interested in World War II aviation history and the 1947 maiden flight of the largest amphibious plane ever flown. It is not suited for younger builders, for anyone who prefers snap-together plastic kits, or for buyers who want a model with opening panels or motorised features. Tweezers or similar tools are recommended and are not included.

Questions about this item

How much desk space does the assembled 12.6-by-8.5-inch model need?

The finished Spruce Goose measures about 12.6 inches long, 8.5 inches wide and 3.8 inches high, so allow a footprint slightly larger than that on your shelf or desk.

Which step do builders most often miss when folding the 111 steel parts?

Many skip the recommended tweezers and try bending tabs by hand; using tweezers gives clean folds and prevents metal fatigue on the etched sheets.

Will the display stand need tightening or replacement over time?

The stand is a fixed metal piece with no moving joints, so it requires no maintenance beyond occasional dusting of the assembled model.
