12V Solenoid Relay for Starter Duty
The Meterk US-AUTO3T is a 12VDC three-terminal solenoid relay built for starter-motor engagement in automotive, marine and winch applications. It uses a flat-base steel case with an environmental plated cover that seals the contacts against moisture and corrosion. The unit mounts via a 180 flat bracket with holes spaced 2-13/64 on centres.
Continuous Current and Thermal Limits
The relay is rated for a continuous working current under 80A and can handle a maximum transient flash current of 200A. Under continuous duty it can operate at 150A for approximately five minutes before requiring a cool-down rest to avoid overheating. The coil draws 10.2W at 14Ω resistance and the manufacturer recommends a hold time no longer than five minutes per start cycle.
Verify Voltage and Mounting Before Purchase
Confirm that the vehicle or equipment runs on a 12VDC system and that the starter circuit requires a normally-open, three-pole battery isolation solenoid. Check that the 5/16-24 contact studs and the bracket hole pattern of 5/16 x 19/32 match the existing mounting points. This unit is not suited for applications needing uninterrupted long-duration current flow.

Questions about this item
Does the 12 V coil drawing 10.2 W make the housing too hot to touch after a long winch pull?
The maker rates continuous current at 80 A and warns that running above 150 A for more than five minutes will overheat the unit; a cool-down rest is required before the next activation.
What wiring and mounting hardware must I already have to install this solenoid?
You need 5/16-24 ring terminals for the two main studs, 10-32 hardware for the coil terminal, and bolts to fit the 5/16 × 19/32 mounting holes spaced 2-13/64 in on centre.
Will the 14 Ω coil work with the momentary switch on my older 12 V golf cart or boat?
Yes, the 14 Ω coil is designed for standard 12 VDC starter circuits, so a typical momentary key or push-button switch on legacy golf-cart, marine or RV systems will drive it directly.
