Vehicle fit and purpose

The Metra 82-9101 speaker adapter lets owners of Audi A3 and A4 models from 2000 to 2010 install aftermarket speakers without cutting factory wiring. It is built for front and rear door locations where the original mounting pattern differs from standard aftermarket sizes.

Break-away tab upgrade

The adapter includes a break-away tab design that replaces the need for custom brackets or extensive door-panel modification. The jump is worth it when you want a clean, reversible install that keeps the original speaker wiring intact and avoids permanent changes to the vehicle.

Speaker size range and limits

Each pair accepts 6in to 6.75in speakers, covering the most common aftermarket mid-bass and coaxial drivers. It runs out when a speaker’s mounting depth or magnet diameter exceeds the factory door cavity, which the adapter alone cannot enlarge.

Questions about this item

What door openings do the 82-9101 adapters fit in an Audi A3 or A4?

They match the factory speaker cut-outs in Audi A3 and A4 models built from 2000 to 2010, front and rear doors.

How are the break-away tabs used when installing an aftermarket speaker?

Snap off the tabs that correspond to your speaker's bolt pattern, then bolt the adapter to the door and mount the speaker to the adapter.

Will the plastic tabs fatigue if I remove the speakers again later?

The tabs are designed for a single break-away during initial installation; repeated removal is not intended.
