This Metra 99-9009 kit fits Volkswagen Touareg and Touareg 2 models from 2004 onward. It provides a single-DIN opening so an aftermarket stereo can replace the factory radio. The contoured fascia matches the original dashboard shape and includes an oversized storage pocket beneath the head unit. Installers who need a double-DIN opening or a different vehicle application cannot use this kit.

Build Quality and Long-Term Fit

High-grade ABS plastic resists warping and colour fade under cabin temperature cycles. The recessed DIN aperture aligns the head unit flush with the surrounding trim, reducing vibration that can loosen mounting screws over time. Metra’s patented snap-in ISO support brackets lock the radio chassis without metal cages, simplifying future removal. No electronic interfaces or active components are present, so reliability depends only on mechanical fit.

Installation Notes

The snap-in ISO brackets click into the kit before the radio is slid home, so no separate cage bolts are required. Factory wiring must be adapted with a vehicle-specific harness adapter, which is not included. The deep storage pocket can interfere with long radio chassis or rear USB cables; verify chassis depth before final assembly. Trim clips on the original dashboard are brittle — pry carefully to avoid breakage.
