Universal Stem Fit

These Metra BY-CW-05 casters replace standard office chair wheels with a 11 mm stem diameter and 22 mm stem length. The set of five supports 130 lbs per wheel and 650 lbs total. Polyurethane tread on steel hubs rolls quietly on hardwood, tile, laminate, carpet and concrete. Installation requires no tools — pull the old stems out and press the new ones in.

Suits Most Chairs, Not Specialised Bases

Buyers with standard 7/16 inch stem sockets across home, office, medical or gaming chairs will find a direct fit. The 99 % compatibility claim covers typical task, executive and stool models. Chairs using bolt-on plates, threaded stems, oversize 1/2 inch sockets or proprietary quick-release systems cannot accept these casters without an adapter.

Wheels Only — No Mat, No Brake, No Lubricant

The package contains five complete caster assemblies and nothing else. No chair mat, locking brakes, stem adapters, mounting hardware or lubricant are included. The polyurethane material itself replaces the need for a floor protector, and the sealed precision bearings arrive pre-greased for immediate use.

Questions about this item

What stem size must my chair already have for these 3-inch wheels to fit?

The casters use a standard 7/16 inch (11 mm) diameter stem with a 7/8 inch (22 mm) length, matching the fitment on most office chairs.

Will the 130 lb per wheel rating support my existing heavy-duty chair base?

Each wheel handles 130 lbs, giving a combined 650 lb capacity for the set of five, suitable for heavy-duty chair bases.

How can I confirm the polyurethane tread is rolling quietly on my hardwood floor after installation?

The precision ball bearings and soft PU rubber should glide silently without squeaking or sticking on hardwood, tile or carpet.
