Five-caster set for hard floors

This set of five Metra CB680 caster wheels replaces standard plastic chair casters on hard surfaces. Each wheel measures 50 mm in diameter and mounts on an 11 mm stem that fits most office chairs. The rubber tread protects hardwood, laminate and tile without needing a separate floor mat. Total load capacity for the set is 330 lb.

Tool-free stem installation

Installation requires no tools: pull the old casters out and press the new stems in until they seat. The 11 mm stem suits the common 7/16 inch socket found on 99 percent of office chairs, but it will not fit chairs that need a 10 mm stem such as some Ikea models. Keeping floors free of grit prevents debris from embedding in the rubber and scratching the surface.

66 lb per caster limit

Each caster is rated for 66 lb, so the five-wheel set reaches its 330 lb maximum only when weight is evenly distributed. The rubber compound rolls quietly on hard floors but is not designed for thick carpet or uneven outdoor surfaces. For applications that demand a higher per-wheel rating or different stem dimensions, a different caster model would be required.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the 50mm rubber wheels are rolling smoothly on my hardwood floor after snapping in the 11mm stems?

Push the chair gently; the twin wheels should glide quietly without vibration or catching, and the floor should show no new marks when kept free of debris.

What comes in the CB680 box and what must I supply to fit them to my chair?

The box contains five casters with 7/16 inch (11mm) stems and 50mm rubber wheels; you only need to pull off the old casters by hand — no tools or extra parts are required.

Should I choose the CB680 set of five or the CB690 model for my 330lb capacity need?

The CB680 set of five is rated for 330lbs total (66lbs per caster); the CB690 is a different model offered for premium lifetime protection.
