MICR toner for HP LaserJet 2400 series

This MICRTHN11A cartridge supplies magnetic ink for printing secure checks on HP LaserJet 2400 series printers. It fits models 2420, 2420d, 2420n, 2420dn, 2430t, 2430tn and 2430dtn. The unit replaces HP Q6511A and is sold as a single black cartridge.

6000-page yield at standard coverage

The cartridge is rated for approximately 6000 pages at five percent coverage. High-coverage documents such as dense forms or graphics will reduce the practical page count. Offices printing large volumes of cheques should plan for earlier replacement when coverage exceeds the test standard.

Alternative to HP Q6511A for cheque printing

This aftermarket cartridge replaces the original HP Q6511A in the listed LaserJet 2400 series devices. The upgrade is worthwhile when magnetic ink character recognition is required for financial documents. It is not suitable for printers outside the 2400 series or for non-MICR printing tasks.

Questions about this item

Will the MICRTHN11A work in my HP LaserJet 2420dn alongside the original drum unit?

Yes, this cartridge replaces the HP Q6511A and is compatible with the LaserJet 2420dn, so it fits the existing drum and printer mechanics without modification.

How can I verify the MICRTHN11A is printing valid MICR characters after installation?

Print a sample check and confirm the routing and account numbers at the bottom are readable by a magnetic ink character reader; the cartridge uses magnetic toner designed for that purpose.

Does the single pack include a waste toner bottle or just the MICRTHN11A cartridge?

The pack contains one black MICR toner cartridge rated for approximately 6000 pages at five percent coverage; a waste toner bottle is not included and is not required for the listed LaserJet 2400 series printers.
