The Microsemi PD-9001GR/AT/AC is a single-port midspan injector that delivers up to 30 W over Ethernet cabling. It targets installers powering 802.11n access points, PTZ cameras or video-phones from a standard AC outlet. The unit accepts 120 V or 230 V input and provides power to one compatible device.

30 W capacity and headroom

The injector guarantees 30 W output for IEEE 802.3at Class 4 devices such as pan-tilt-zoom cameras and wireless access points. It remains backward compatible with 802.3af equipment, supplying only the power those devices request. The 30 W limit means it cannot support higher-power PoE++ or multi-port installations.

Gigabit Ethernet and 802.3at limits

Data passes through at 10, 100 and 1000 Mbps, so Gigabit-capable access points and cameras operate at line rate. The IEEE 802.3at standard caps delivered power at 30 W and uses two-event classification, which prevents non-standard terminals from drawing excess current. Longer cable runs or daisy-chained devices exceed the standard's reach and power budget.
