Silver Surface Laptop 5 13.5

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 5 is a 13.5-inch touchscreen ultrabook finished in silver. It runs Windows 11 Home on an Intel Core i5-1235U deca-core processor with 12 MB cache and integrated Iris Xe graphics. The system includes 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 256 GB SSD, aimed at students and mobile professionals who value a light, premium chassis.

Soldered memory and fixed storage

The 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory is soldered to the board so it cannot be upgraded after purchase; the two memory slots listed in specifications are not user-accessible. The 256 GB SSD is removable in principle but requires opening the glued-down keyboard deck and disconnecting the battery, a procedure that risks damaging the display cable or triggering the anti-tamper seal.

Integrated graphics and 18-hour battery claim

Integrated Iris Xe graphics share system memory and are suited to office work, web browsing and light media editing but cannot drive modern games or heavy 3D workloads. The quoted 18-hour battery life reflects a specific video-playback test; real-world mixed use with the 2256 x 1504 touchscreen at typical brightness will deliver substantially less runtime.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i5-1235U is running at its 3.3 GHz base speed after setting up the Surface Laptop 5?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, and watch the CPU frequency readout while the system is idle; it should settle at 3.3 GHz.

What items are included with the Surface Laptop 5 and what must I purchase separately?

The package includes the laptop with its 13.5-inch 2256 x 1504 touchscreen, the proprietary Surface Connect charger, and printed documentation; any USB-C hub, external monitor cable, or protective sleeve is sold separately.

Which configuration should I choose if I need more than the 8 GB LPDDR5 memory that ships with this model?

This unit maxes out at 16 GB and the memory is soldered, so if you anticipate heavier multitasking you must select a different SKU that ships with 16 GB from the factory.
