15" Copilot+ PC for AI workloads

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 EP2-54746 is a 15" Copilot+ PC built around the Intel Core Ultra X7 368H processor with 16GB DDR5 memory and Intel Arc B390 graphics. It runs Windows 11 Pro and includes a 256GB SSD. The 3270 x 2180 PixelSense touchscreen operates at 120 Hz. Connectivity covers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth, two Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, one USB-A 3.0/3.1/3.2 Gen 1 port and a Surface Connector.

Professionals needing on-device AI and touch input

This configuration suits professionals who want local AI acceleration through the Copilot+ platform and a high-resolution touchscreen for direct manipulation. The 16GB DDR5 and 256GB SSD provide a baseline for modern productivity. Buyers who need larger local datasets or heavier GPU compute should look at models with more storage and graphics memory. The fixed memory means no post-purchase RAM upgrades.

256GB SSD and 16GB DDR5 headroom

The 256GB SSD comfortably holds the operating system, core applications and active project files. The 16GB DDR5 handles multitasking across office suites, browser tabs and light creative workloads. Large media libraries, virtual machines or extensive offline AI model caches will exceed the available capacity. Thunderbolt 4 ports allow fast external storage expansion when internal space runs out.

Questions about this item

Do I need a USB-C dock or hub to connect my existing USB-A peripherals to the 1x USB-A 3.0 / 3.1/3.2 Gen 1 port?

The laptop includes one USB-A 3.0 / 3.1/3.2 Gen 1 port for direct connection of USB-A devices; a hub is only required if you need more than one USB-A connection or additional port types.

Will the 2x USB-C (Thunderbolt 4) ports work with my older Thunderbolt 3 dock and monitors?

Yes, the two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports are backward compatible with Thunderbolt 3 docks and displays, operating at Thunderbolt 3 speeds when connected to such devices.

How can I verify the 120 Hz refresh rate is active on the 15.0" PixelSense Display after setup?

Open Settings > System > Display > Advanced display and confirm the refresh rate dropdown shows 120 Hz for the built-in 3270 x 2180 panel.
