Portable productivity laptop

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Go 2 model 8QC-00001 in Platinum delivers a 12.4 inch touchscreen in a compact aluminium and composite chassis. It ships with Windows 11 Home 64-bit and a quad-core Intel Core i5-1135G7 processor supported by 16 GB of LPDDR4X memory. The 3:2 aspect ratio display suits document work and web browsing for students or mobile professionals.

Build and daily connections

The exterior combines an aluminium top cover with a base that uses 30 percent post-consumer recycled content. A fingerprint reader is integrated into the power button for Windows Hello sign-in alongside firmware TPM security. The 10 point multi-touch screen reaches 330 nits brightness, while the included 39 W power supply charges the system through its proprietary connector.

Deciding specification

Integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics share the 16 GB system memory, limiting the laptop to light creative tasks and media playback rather than sustained 3D workloads. The 256 GB NVMe SSD provides the only internal storage and there are no memory slots for future upgrades. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance or expandable memory should consider other form factors.

Questions about this item

What does the 802.11ax wireless interface cap in practice?

The 802.11ax wireless adapter provides up to 16 GB of LPDDR4X memory and a 256 GB NVMe SSD, so maximum throughput depends on router capability, channel width and interference rather than a fixed ceiling.

What physical dimensions or mounting points does the 12.4" touchscreen laptop require to fit in a sleeve or dock?

The 12.4 inch 3:2 display with 1536 x 1024 resolution sits in an aluminum top and polycarbonate composite base, so measure the 12.4 inch diagonal and 3:2 footprint against your sleeve or dock internal dimensions.

How is Windows 11 Home installed on the 256 GB NVMe drive, and what step do people skip?

Windows 11 Home 64-bit ships pre-installed on the 256 GB NVMe SSD; the step users miss is completing the out-of-box experience including fingerprint power button setup for Windows Hello sign-in.
