What the Surface Pro 8 is

The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 is a 13.0 inch Windows 11 Pro tablet built around a quad-core Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor running at 3.0 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB solid-state drive in an Aberdeen Silver chassis. The 2880 x 1920 touch display supports pen and finger input for mobile professionals and creatives.

Upgrading from older 2-in-1s

This model replaces earlier Surface Pro units that used slower processors, smaller screens and lower storage capacities. The jump is worth it when you need the higher 2880 x 1920 resolution, the 512 GB drive and the 16 GB memory for heavier multitasking or local media libraries. Buyers who only need basic web browsing or document editing may not see the benefit.

Build fit and connectivity

The tablet measures .3 by 11.3 by 8.2 inches and relies on 802.11ac Wi-Fi for wireless networking. Two USB-C ports handle charging, data and external displays, while the internal lithium-ion battery is rated for more than 5 hours of mixed use. A detachable Type Cover and Surface Pen are sold separately for full laptop-style ergonomics.

Questions about this item

What are the exact dimensions of the Surface Pro 8 tablet so I can check if it fits my sleeve?

The tablet measures 0.3 inches thick, 11.3 inches wide and 8.2 inches deep, matching the 13.0 inch screen size.

How do I attach the Type Cover and what is the common mistake?

Align the magnetic connector on the bottom edge of the tablet with the cover; the mistake is forcing it before the magnets engage fully.

When will the built-in 512 GB storage need replacement or expansion?

The internal drive is not user-replaceable; add capacity later with a USB-C external drive or microSDXC card.
