Microsoft Wired Desktop 600 APB-00001 Keyboard and Mouse Combo Black

Wired Desktop 600 keyboard and mouse

The Microsoft Wired Desktop 600 APB-00001 is a black wired keyboard and mouse combo that connects through USB. It has a 104-key layout with five function keys and a spill-resistant design. The optical mouse works with either hand and offers three buttons plus a scroll wheel. It is suited for office or home users who want a simple, reliable wired set.

Upgrading from wireless or worn sets

This combo replaces wireless keyboards that need batteries or older wired sets with sticky keys. The jump is worth it when you want plug-and-play USB connectivity without installing drivers. It also adds a spill-resistant keyboard and an ambidextrous optical mouse. Buyers who need programmable macro keys or backlit keys should look elsewhere.

Plug-and-play setup with few issues

Installation is straightforward: plug both USB connectors into the computer and the devices are ready to use on supported Windows versions. The keyboard has no palm rest, which some users find less comfortable for long sessions. The mouse cable length is fixed, so desk routing may need planning. No software installation is required for basic operation.
