Product identity

The Midwest Fastener 52217 is a 3/4 inch nickel plated steel swivel eye spring snap hook sold as new miscellaneous hardware. It provides a secure, rotating attachment point for light-duty fastening tasks.

Suitable users

This hook suits DIYers, maintenance staff and hobbyists who need a compact, corrosion-resistant snap for temporary connections such as tarps, chains or light rigging. It is not intended for buyers who require load-rated lifting hardware, larger throat openings or stainless steel construction for marine environments.

Installation notes

The spring-loaded gate opens with thumb pressure and snaps shut automatically, so no tools are required for basic attachment. The swivel eye rotates freely to reduce twist in the connected line. The main issue is accidental opening if the gate catches on clothing or debris, so verify the gate is fully seated after each use.

Questions about this item

What mounting point do I need to attach the 3/4 inch swivel eye on these snap hooks?

The swivel eye accepts a 3/4 inch diameter ring, rod or cable so you can clip it directly onto existing hardware of that size.

Will the nickel-plated steel hold up if I keep using my older stainless steel D-rings?

Yes, the nickel plating resists corrosion and the steel body works alongside stainless components without galvanic issues in normal use.

How can I confirm the spring-loaded gate is functioning correctly after I install the hooks?

Press the gate open with your thumb; it should snap shut sharply and stay closed under light tug, showing the spring is seated and the latch engages fully.
