Compressor Oil for Rotary Compressors

This Miles Lubricants fluid is formulated for rotary compressor lubrication. It uses a polyalkylene glycol base oil in the SXR Comp Coolant series. The product comes in a one-gallon bottle and is not food grade.

Viscosity Grades and Temperature Performance

The oil carries SAE 20 and ISO 68 viscosity grades with a viscosity index of 101. It measures 68 cSt at 40 degrees C and 9.1 cSt at 100 degrees C. The flash point is 460 degrees F.

Polyalkylene Glycol Base Oil Limitations

The PAG base stock is incompatible with mineral oils and requires a full system flush when converting. It is not suitable for breathing-air compressors or food-grade applications. Seal compatibility must be verified before use.

Questions about this item

Will this SAE 20 compressor oil work in my older rotary compressor that currently runs on mineral oil?

The oil uses a polyalkylene glycol base and is formulated for rotary compressors; mixing it with mineral oil can reduce performance so a full drain and flush is recommended before switching.

How can I confirm the oil is performing correctly once the compressor is running?

Monitor discharge temperature and oil carry-over — stable temperatures near the 460 °F flash point and minimal carry-over indicate the ISO 68 viscosity and 101 viscosity index are working as intended.

Does the 1-gallon bottle include any additives or filters, or must I buy them separately?

The bottle contains only the compressor coolant; no additives, filters or other accessories are included and must be purchased separately if required.
