Semi-open coating with stearate resists clogging for consistent finishing and heavy stock removal on 3-inch grip discs
The Mirka Bulldog Gold Grip Disc 80 Grit is an abrasive finishing tool built for surface preparation on automotive and industrial jobs. Its semi-open coating and special stearate layer resist clogging and pill forming so the grain stays active longer. The disc suits technicians who need consistent cut quality on paint, primer or composite substrates. It fits standard grip backing pads for quick changeover on pneumatic or electric sanders.
This disc has no motor, electronics or moving parts of its own so it generates no heat, noise or electrical load during use. Thermal behaviour and sound level depend entirely on the sander and the material being sanded. Power consumption is determined by the air or electric tool driving the disc. The stearate coating helps reduce friction at the abrasive surface which can lower heat buildup on the workpiece.
The disc replaces conventional abrasive discs that load quickly and leave pilling residue on the workpiece. It is a step up when finishing and heavy stock removal must be done without frequent disc changes. The jump is worth it for operators who lose time clearing clogged paper or reworking surfaces marred by pill marks. Buyers who need a different grit size or a non-grip attachment style should select another product.

Press the hook-and-loop backing firmly onto a clean 3" backup pad so the whole surface bonds; skipping the cleaning step lets dust break the grip and the disc flies off.
Replace it once the semi-open coating loads with dust and the stearate layer wears away — cutting slows and the surface stops feeling sharp.
Heat buildup in the adhesive layer is the first limit; extended heavy stock removal softens the bond and the disc starts to shift on the pad.
