What the cartridge does

The Moen 1225 cartridge replaces the worn valve core inside single-handle faucets from the Legend, Chateau, Chalet and Touch Control families. It restores normal water control on kitchen, lavatory, bar and tub/shower models that use this design. Installers remove the old cartridge and insert the new one without special tools. Buyers needing a cartridge for Moen Posi-Temp pressure-balance tub/shower valves cannot use this part.

Behaviour over time

The cartridge stops drips and leaks that develop as internal seals age, returning the handle to smooth, predictable operation. Because it is a one-piece unit, there are no separate seals to misalign during reassembly, so the repair remains consistent after repeated daily cycles. The design also removes the stiff “hard pull” feel that appears when older cartridges wear. It is not intended for faucets that require a pressure-balancing cartridge.

Build and fit

The cartridge body is moulded to fit the exact bore and spline pattern of the listed Moen and Stanadyne single-handle faucets, so it seats fully without forcing. A plastic retainer clip supplied on the card holds the cartridge in place once inserted. No additional O-rings, lubricant or adapters are required for the compatible models. The carded packaging protects the cartridge until installation.
