Ready-to-use 10Gb multi-mode link

This five-metre OM3 duplex cable carries 10 gigabit ethernet over laser-optimised 50/125 micron fibre with colour-coded LC connectors on each end. The aqua jacket is UL-rated OFNR for in-wall and between-floor runs in commercial buildings.

Installers needing 10GbE over short indoor runs

Teams deploying 10 gigabit links between switches, servers or patch panels inside a building will find the length and fire rating match the job. Buyers who require single-mode distance, speeds beyond 10GbE, or outdoor-rated jackets should choose a different cable type.

OM3 50/125 micron fibre with OFNR jacket

The cable uses OM3-rated 50 micron core and 125 micron cladding fibre terminated in duplex LC connectors, delivering 10GbE performance with a riser-rated jacket approved for commercial pathway installation.

Questions about this item

Does the 5 m aqua OM3 cable generate any heat or consume power during continuous 10 GbE operation?

No — it is a passive glass fibre link with no active electronics, so it produces no heat and draws no power regardless of how long the 10 GbE signal runs.

What equipment must I already have to use the dual LC connectors on this duplex patch cord?

You need two devices — typically switches, transceivers or NICs — each fitted with an LC duplex port that accepts 50/125 µm multi-mode fibre.

Will this OM3 50/125 µm cable work if I keep my older OM2 50/125 µm patch panels and 1 GbE SFP modules?

Yes — the core and cladding dimensions match, so the cable plugs straight into OM2 panels and 1 GbE multi-mode SFPs, though the link will remain limited to the older gear’s 1 GbE speed.
