CMP-Rated 12 AWG Speaker Wire

Monoprice 113707 is a plenum-rated speaker cable designed for in-wall and in-ceiling installations in residential and commercial buildings. It uses 100 percent pure oxygen-free bare copper conductors to deliver accurate signal transmission. The cable measures 50 feet in length and features a two-conductor construction. Its black jacket is softer and more flexible than typical plenum-rated cables.

Lifetime Warranty and Flexible Jacket

The supplier backs the cable with a lifetime warranty, providing long-term assurance for installed infrastructure. The CMP rating confirms compliance with fire safety and insurance requirements for plenum air spaces. The jacket material is engineered to be softer and more flexible than traditional plenum jackets, easing pulls through studs and conduit during installation.

Suited for In-Wall Runs, Not Exposed Patches

This wire suits installers and builders who need code-compliant cable for concealed runs inside walls, ceilings or plenum ducts. Buyers who need a four-conductor version for bi-wiring or connecting speaker pairs should look at a different SKU. Users seeking cable for temporary external connections or non-plenum environments may find lighter alternatives more practical.

Questions about this item

Will the 12 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors need replacement over time?

The 12 AWG oxygen-free copper conductors are built for permanent in-wall installation and do not degrade under normal use, so no scheduled replacement is needed.

What is the first limit reached when running high power through 50 feet of 12 AWG wire?

Over a 50-foot run the 12 AWG gauge keeps resistance low, so the practical limit is the amplifier’s output capability rather than the cable itself.

Does the CMP-rated jacket get hot or make noise when the system runs all day?

The CMP-rated plenum jacket is passive insulation; it produces no noise and remains at ambient temperature during continuous operation.
