False Ceiling A/V Enclosure

The Monoprice 116088 replaces half of a standard 2 x 2 ft ceiling tile to conceal A/V and IT components above a drop ceiling. Its perforated door panel resembles an HVAC return register for a discreet appearance. A slotted mounting tray allows fast equipment installation. The white enclosure includes a locking door panel with keys for security.

Capacity and Headroom

Internal dimensions of 8.00 in height and 27.25 in width provide space for typical rack-style gear such as switchers, amplifiers or network switches. Multiple knockouts allow flexible cable routing for power and signal runs. The unit weighs 32.33 lb and mounts directly to the ceiling grid structure. Very deep servers or full-height rack chassis will not fit the shallow cavity.

Replaces an In-Room Rack

This enclosure removes the need for a floor-standing A/V rack, freeing floor space and reducing visible clutter in meeting rooms or classrooms. The jump is worth it when a clean aesthetic and secure, out-of-sight storage are priorities. It does not suit installations requiring high-density equipment bays or active cooling for heavy thermal loads.

Questions about this item

Will the 27.25-inch width of the 116088 enclosure fit my existing 2-foot drop-ceiling grid?

Yes, the unit is designed to replace half of a standard 2-foot square tile or half of a 4x2-foot tile, matching common commercial grid dimensions.

How can I verify the slotted mounting tray is holding my A/V gear securely after installation?

Mount the equipment on the slotted tray, close the perforated door panel, and engage the included lock; the locked door prevents access and confirms the tray is properly seated.

Does the 116088 come with the lock, keys, and mounting hardware, or must I buy them separately?

The enclosure includes a lock with keys, mounting hardware, and a security bracket; a padlock for the bracket is not included.
