Connect DisplayPort 1.2a to VGA monitors

This active adapter links a DisplayPort 1.2a output to a VGA display, making it useful for desktop PCs, laptops and projectors that still rely on analogue input. It supports AMD Eyefinity and NVIDIA Surround multi-display modes. The six-inch cable keeps the connection tidy.

Resolution headroom and limits

The adapter handles VGA resolutions up to 1920x1080p at 60 Hz, covering most office and legacy monitor needs. Higher refresh rates or resolutions beyond 1080p are not supported. Users requiring 1440p or 4K over VGA must look elsewhere.

Passive thermals and connector dimensions

With no active cooling the adapter runs silently and draws negligible power from the DisplayPort source. The DisplayPort head measures 14.5 mm thick, 25.5 mm wide and 31.0 mm long; the VGA head is 19.5 mm thick, 42.0 mm wide and 47.0 mm long with screw holes for secure mounting.

Questions about this item

Will the 1920x1080p @60Hz active adapter work with my older VGA monitor that only supports lower resolutions?

Yes, the active adapter scales the signal so your DisplayPort source can drive the legacy VGA display at its native resolution up to 1920x1080p @60Hz.

How can I verify the adapter is running in active mode for Eyefinity or Surround after I plug it in?

Open your GPU control panel and confirm the VGA output appears as an independent display in AMD Eyefinity or NVIDIA Surround configuration.

Does the 6 inch cable include the VGA thumbscrews, or do I need a separate screw kit to secure it?

The VGA connector head has integrated panel screw holes, so the thumbscrews on your monitor cable fasten directly to the adapter.
