50-foot USB-C to HDMI link for remote displays

The Monoprice 138583 cable connects a USB Type-C source to an HDMI display over 49.99 ft using active optical fibre. It is built for installers and AV integrators who need a single-cable run between a laptop, dock or media player and a distant screen without intermediate extenders or external power supplies.

Sustained 4K@60Hz transmission over long distance

Optical fibre replaces copper for the high-speed signal path, allowing continuous 3840x2160p resolution at 60 Hz with Dynamic HDR across the full 50 ft length. The active design maintains signal integrity without degradation over time, supporting more than one billion colours for the duration of the session.

Low-power passive operation with gold-plated ends

The cable draws power from the USB-C port and requires no separate adapter, keeping heat and noise at zero. Gold-plated connectors rated at 50 micron resist corrosion during repeated mating cycles. The slim optical construction remains flexible for routing through conduit or tight spaces.

Questions about this item

Does the 50 ft cable draw enough power from a USB-C port to run all day without overheating?

The active optical design uses fiber instead of copper, so it transmits 4K@60Hz up to 100 ft with low power consumption and no external power adapter required.

What must my laptop or tablet provide on its USB-C port for this cable to output 3840x2160p at 60 Hz?

The host must support USB 3.1 Alternate Mode with DisplayPort video output; the cable then converts that signal to HDMI without any extra converter box.

Will this cable work with an older 1080p monitor that only has HDMI 1.4 inputs?

Yes, the cable is backward compatible and will negotiate the highest resolution the display supports, so a 1080p screen will receive its native signal without configuration.
