What this cable does

The Monoprice 140785 is a DisplayPort 1.4 cable built for high-resolution video and audio between a computer and a monitor. It handles data rates up to 32.4 Gbps and supports 8K at 60 Hz or 4K at 120 Hz with HDR. The 12 ft length suits setups where the source and display are further apart.

Installing and daily use

The EasyPlug connectors remove the traditional locking mechanism, so the plugs slide in and pull out without squeezing a release tab. A nylon braided jacket resists tangling and shields the conductors from nicks and cuts. The only common issue is ensuring both devices actually implement DisplayPort 1.4 to reach the highest modes.

Who should buy it

This suits anyone linking a modern GPU or laptop to an 8K or high-refresh 4K display at a 12 ft distance. Builders needing a shorter run should choose the 3, 6 or 10 ft versions instead. Users with only DisplayPort 1.2 hardware will not gain the 8K or 4K 120 Hz capability.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the cable is delivering 8K at 60 Hz after I connect it?

Open the display settings on your computer and verify the monitor is running at its native 8K resolution with a 60 Hz refresh rate; enable HDR in the OS if your content uses it.

What comes in the box and is anything else required?

The package contains the 12 ft DisplayPort 1.4 cable with EasyPlug connectors on both ends; no extra adapters or power supplies are needed.

Which length should I choose among the 3, 6, 10 and 12 foot options?

Pick the shortest length that reaches between your GPU and monitor without tension; the 12 ft version suits setups where the PC sits farther from the display.
