Magnetic cable channel for tidy desks

The Monoprice 144617 is a 14‑inch steel channel that organises and protects wires on any vertical metal surface. It suits home offices, AV racks or workstations where loose Ethernet, phone or power cords create clutter. Two integrated magnets hold the strip firmly without drilling or adhesive. The low‑profile design keeps cables routed neatly along walls or desk legs.

Passive cooling and silent operation

Because the channel contains no moving parts, it adds zero noise and draws no power. The steel body acts as a passive heat sink for bundled cables, preventing warm spots without fans. Its open‑top layout allows natural airflow around cords, reducing the risk of insulation damage from trapped heat. Installation requires no tools, so there is no electrical work involved.

Bundled magnets simplify mounting

The package includes two strong magnetic attachments that snap the channel to any ferrous surface in seconds. This hardware eliminates the need for screws, brackets or cable ties, letting users reposition the organiser whenever the layout changes. The magnets also keep the strip aligned during vibration from nearby equipment. No software or drivers are required for this purely mechanical accessory.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 14-inch magnetic channel on my desk?

Place the two included magnetic strips on any steel surface such as a desk leg or AV rack; the channel snaps onto them with no tools or screws required.

What upkeep will the steel channel and magnets need over time?

Wipe the steel body with a dry cloth to remove dust; the permanent magnets require no maintenance and will not lose holding force under normal indoor use.

How much cable weight can the magnetic hold support before it slides?

The pair of strong magnets is designed for typical Ethernet, phone and power cords; exceeding the magnetic shear limit will cause the channel to detach from the vertical surface.
